Can anyone define to me the usage of the words "could too perform something" for these two expressions. The interpretation on the internet is extremely vague, it says

a expression indicating that it is probably much better to carry out somepoint than not to perform it.

You are watching: Mine as well or mind as well

1: If you are going all the means to , you can also pick up.

2: If someone is still not happy, then they might also simply hang themselves.

This may be considered General Reference; however it"s not easy to discover in virtual dictionaries, so I can too give it a stab.

macmillandictionary.com, in the ‘Phrases’ under might provides this:

can (just) as well INFORMAL 1. provided to imply doing somepoint because you cannot think of anypoint much better to do

We might also sit dvery own while we"re waiting. You could also enjoy your money while you"ve got it.

It suggests an unenthusiastic acquiescence in someone else"s proposition, or a less-than-wholehearted proposition of one"s own. When I was young, the conversation could run choose this:

A. Ya wanna go grab a beer? B. (shrugging). Might as well. Can"t dance, and it"s too wet to plow.

The fullest form of the phrase (little bit heard now) indicates why it has actually this meaning: can just also (perform X) as not. That is, we"re equally well-off doing X as not doing X.

" Oh, I can as well" interpretation what injury could it do! Are you going to take the car or walk? "I can as well take the car". (as walking would involve exerting energy!) It is normally offered where tright here is an different, and you declare the winning option by the term I can too execute blah blah and so on.Hope this helps. We should segregate "might" from "as well", initially.

Might = most likely, possibly.

as well = equivalently proper or fitting.

Because of this, "might as well" would mean

probably simply as appropriate or fitting.

For example,

Do you think that Jesus will certainly be returning next year?

He can execute simply as well by not returning following year, since it has been 2000 years" procrasticountry.

He might, do simply as well, by not returning next year.

He can also not rerotate at all.

He can be simply as comfortable not returning at all, compared to his comfort level of having actually to fulfill a prophecy - having to deal with a world damaged by god-fearing civilization vs the guilt of not fulfilling a prophecy.

In reality, there might be no difference whether he retransforms or not. The earth would certainly not benefit either way.
